At the 2nd CFO Summit, GEP CFO Lefteris Merkouriou participated in the panel “Digital Transformation in Practice”, highlighting the critical role of the Finance function in today’s business environment.
During the discussion, the key challenges facing Greek businesses today were addressed – from cost control and leveraging real-time data for more accurate decision-making to adapting to new ways of working.
Lefteris Merkouriou shared GEP’s experience in transitioning to modern technology tools and systems, placing particular emphasis on the active role of the company’s people throughout the transformation process.
As he highlighted, technology is an essential tool for a company’s long-term strategic growth. However, the success of any transformation ultimately depends on the people who support it and turn change into everyday practice.
The active involvement of GEP’s people throughout the transition significantly strengthened employee engagement, confirming that technology delivers its full potential when combined with the team’s knowledge, commitment and culture of collaboration.
The discussion also addressed an interesting paradox highlighted by a Eurostat study on Greece, underscoring both the challenges and the opportunities emerging in the domestic market.
