Ergonomics research is a study concerning the recording and analysis of jobs and work activities. It evaluates the interaction of employees with their work environment, with a view to meeting human needs and abilities and secure occupational health and safety.
The recording of work activities is carried out by a specialized consultant, while the analysis and evaluation is carried out based on legislative requirements, as well as using international statistical anthropometric data and computational methods.
Ergonomic Research Process
The following are required for conducting ergonomic study:
- Detailed recording of work activities and the work environment through observation and, if deemed necessary, by using video recording.
- The analysis and evaluation of the results using special computational methods and tools, based on anthropometric matrices.
- Preparation of an ergonomic study presenting the findings per job position, with a focus on the points that require redesign of the methods, or the particulars of the production process and of the working environment.
