Whistleblowing

EU Directive 2019/1937, published in 2019, introduced a framework for the protection of individuals reporting breaches of Union law. Greece transposed this Directive into national legislation through Law 4990/2022, which establishes a system for both internal and external reporting of violations, ensures whistleblower protection, and enforces strict penalties for non-compliance.

Reports may concern issues such as public procurement, financial services, product and transport safety, environmental protection, food and public health, personal data protection, cybersecurity, and matters affecting the EU’s financial interests or the functioning of the internal market.

GEP’s Role

GEP offers comprehensive Whistleblowing solutions, promoting transparency and organizational integrity:

Policy Development: Drafting of internal whistleblowing policies in compliance with EU Directive 2019/1937 and Greek Law 4990/2022.

Reporting Management: Evaluation, investigation, and resolution of violations through a secure and reliable system.

Whistleblowing Officer (WBO) Services: Assignment of a designated Reporting and Monitoring Officer, either as an internal staff member or an external partner.

Digital Reporting Platform (ISO 27001 Compliant): Confidential and secure system for internal or external whistleblower submissions.

Training & Awareness: Programs designed to educate employees on proper use of the reporting system and adherence to ethical standards.
